saturday: the lazy girl heatless wavy hair hack

14:10

Hello lovelies! I wanted to blog today, and after taking my hair down, I thought I would show you how I've been styling my hair recently. Not on a daily basis, but mostly every time after I've showered.

I didn't take photos of the before, but I've posted previous pictures of my natural hair. It's very straight, and sometimes has a slight wave to it if I've been caught in the rain. But on a regular basis, it's very thin, fine and flat. I struggle with taking the perfect selfie to make it look bigger than it is. (Maybe I'll save that for another day ;))

This is the end result, I'll show you a photo and explain from there. Probably the easiest heatless (somewhat) style ever.

It looks just like I've braided my hair, but after a few hours, my hair really starts to form nice natural looking waves. Basically, I blow dry my hair so it's 99% dry. I do this after my shower because my natural hair is so fine and flat, I use products and my hair dyer to give myself some extra volume. You can gladly skip this step if you are blessed with beautifully thick hair ;)
From there, I separate my hair into two sections. All I do ladies, is twist my hair away from my face. I twist it tight, and then similar to a milkmaid braid, I flip it over my head, so it's resting over my head and I use about three bobby pins! I do the same to the other side and make sure it's secured. I don't have a set time I leave this in for, it really depends on the day and what I'm doing. Today it was probably up for over an hour.

When you take them down, they'll be tight, but I like to brush them out so they are smooth and blend with my whole head of hair. I will shake them out too, and in the summer I like to use a salt spray, but seeing as we are in the fall (YAS), I plan to skip that step.
These usually stay in until the next day, depending on what I've gotten up to!

I hope this was helpful, and I hope you try them out too! So super easy to have up when you're doing makeup in the morning before school or anything like that!

I'll see you guys maybe tomorrow with a review post! Have a great Saturday!

Toodle-doo!

PS: My hair color looks very strange, sorry about that! It is also even, it's just the way my head was when taking the photo.

early childhood

schooling and practicum! am i ready? feat fotd

18:31

Well I have broken one of my new years rules, which was to blog more, but the last few weeks have been really crazy for me. As the title of this post says, I start my practicum tomorrow. If you don't know what that means, since I'm in the early childhood program, basically, for 10 weeks I go out in the field to a daycare and I basically put all I've learnt from the class into action and make activities for them, and get them to do them and do circle time. You're all probably reading this and thinking "yeah yeah, blah blah blah," so I'll stop now, but that's why I haven't been blogging as much as I would like.

I'm really nervous for tomorrow, but excited at the same time. I don't know how it's going to go over, and I still feel like I should be in class tomorrow morning at 7:30 am, but instead I have to go to the daycare for 8 am. Let's just say that my body doesn't like to sleep in without giving me a headache now. I feel like a mom, ha, jokes.

I thought I'd throw in a very crappy webcam picture of my FOTD today.

ouu what kinda pose is that jena

I'm wearing Loreal True Match Lumi as my base, a revlon blush, which you can't really see, and I used the Loreal super liner for my cat eye flick. I've also got three colors from the Stila in the Light palette, which I'm in LOVE with, but granted it's the only higher end palette that I've got, for now.
Excuse the mess of my hair; it's chalked full of dry shampoo and texture spray today, as second day hair can look a little gross, haha.
I'm thinking about going lighter for my hair color come summer time; thoughts?

Anyways, off I go to print off the little extra things I need for tomorrow! Have a lovely week everyone!

I've moved!

20:46

Honestly, moving back to my parents house was probably the best choice I could have made at this point in my life. I'm going to be starting school and then if I were to be living alone, rent would be around 700$ and that is honestly just too much for me to handle with schooling and my job where I won't be able to work 40 hours. Anyways, we moved me today and I got everything unpacked! Hallelujah! It's pretty much all set up, and I've found a pretty good camera I want to purchase so soon I'll be up with those videos! I just need to find a good program for windows for editing videos because the few programs I've tried have all just failed me.
I bought myself (finally) a hair donut and it's going quite well actually! I used to just use a sock but it didn't really like my hair and my hair wouldn't seem to stay, so I invested in one of those little things and this was the result

I don't know if I look alright with my hair up but it still works! So success!
I'm thinking of taking pictures of places I get to go when I'm not working, which is currently hardly ever, and then just posting about my day or my days off on here until I can get up and running with some videos and I'm thinking of doing a what's in my bag video just for fun. The only problem is, I won't be able to film in my bedroom! It's in the basement and it's curtained off from the rest of the functioning basement and there's very little natural light that gets down here so it's really hard sometimes.
Also don't be surprised if I start posting pictures of my cats or my dog because now that I'm home, my phone will be literally full of pictures of my animals!

Feel free to follow me on twitter if you'd like! @jenarichelle :)m

hair dilemma?

11:48

I've had the same hairstyle for the past few years and I want to change it up, so I tried a middle part! I don't really know how I feel about it, but this is what it looks like.

I know it doesn't quite look in the middle, but my hair didn't want to be directly in the middle so I settled for it being a little off to the side by the tiniest amount. My hair normally looks like this:

So I honestly don't know what suits me best? Samantha and I did a video yesterday and I didn't quite like my hair the way I had it and the way it looked on camera, so I wanted to switch it up but I'd love some opinions if anyone would love to give some advice ?

Anyways, I know I haven't posted in a while but soon I'll have a camera and can take pictures of the products I love right now!
I hope everyone is having a great day today!!
